BY-LAWS (from 2007-2008 needs updating)
NAME – ARTICLE l
The name of this organization shall be Papago Women’s Golf Association.
It shall be a non-profit organization to promote interest in golf, organize women golfers into a unit and hold weekly and special tournaments. It shall strive to support Papago Golf Course by actions, deeds and words.
MEMBERSHIP – ARTICLE III
No person shall be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, color, age or national origin.
Active: Active members shall pay the golf assessment prescribed, and shall be entitled to all membership privileges.
Associate: Non-competing members shall pay the golf assessment prescribed, but cannot vote or compete in tournament play.
Junior: Junior members must be under eighteen (18) years of age. They shall pay the golf assessment prescribed, but cannot vote or compete in tournament play.
Honorary: The title of Honorary Member may be conferred by a majority vote of members present at any meeting. Such a member shall not pay dues, cannot vote, and shall not compete in tournament play.
The affairs of this organization shall be conducted by the Executive Board. The Executive Board shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, elected. In addition, a minimum of four appointees: the Rules Chairman, Handicap Chairman, Major Tournament Chairman and Parliamentarian, ex-officio. Term: Executive Board positions shall be one year.
VACANCY: - Vacancies occurring on the Executive Board shall be filled by the Executive Board.
The Executive Board shall appoint a four-member Nominating Committee consisting of a Chairman and three assistants. The Nominating Committee will post its slate of Officers in March and the election will be held at the general meeting in April. Nominations from the floor will be accepted at this meeting, provided the nominee is present or has previously acknowledged in writing a desire to run for the office.
Those members present at an Executive Board meeting shall constitute a quorum, provided all members of said Board have been notified. A majority of the membership present at a regular meeting shall constitute a quorum.
The association meetings shall be held the first Friday of October, January and April, unless modified or canceled by the President. The Executive Board shall meet prior to regular meetings.
The amount shall be set forth in the Standing Rules and shall be payable on or before the first day of May of the preceding season.
A majority of the Executive Board and appointed Committee Chairmen shall have the power to take disciplinary action against any violation of the By-laws or Standing Rules.
Any of the above may be amended or repealed by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the quorum at any regular meeting, provided notice has been posted two (2) weeks prior to the same meeting.

Dues are payable May 1st.
After June 30th – Active Membership is $70.00
All dues include handicap, AWGA and computer fees. New members have an added GHIN fee to get on printout in fall. Any member who has not paid dues by July 1st for the following season will not have her name in the yearbook.
Active membership will be limited by date of entry. Anyone interested in joining the PWGA must submit a membership application by February 15 of the current season. Associate and Junior membership is unlimited.
NOTE: Associate and Junior Members are NOT eligible to compete in major or weekly tournaments. They may play a maxium of five (5) times through the season at the end of the field.
Players will sign up on Friday for the following week and/or contact the Pairings Chairperson by 3:00 PM, Saturday. Anyone wishing to cancel must call the Pairings Chairperson and/or leave a message on her recorder by Sunday, 3PM. In an emergency you may call the Pro Shop, 602-275-8428. Please check in with the Pro Shop at least 30 minutes prior to your tee time to insure that full foursomes are sent out in a timely manner.
Tee times begin at 8:00 AM. (September and May begin at 7:00 AM).
To be eligible for play of day, a player must play within her handicap flight, or be paired at the discretion of the Pairings Chairperson.
Flights are: A Flight 0-17
B Flight 18-26
C Flight 27-32
D Flight 33-40
All major tournament rules will be posted four weeks prior to each tournament; such rules have been approved by the Tournament Committee.
The Tournament Committee shall be chaired by the Tournament Chairperson and consist of the President, Rules Chairperson, and the Handicap Chairperson.
Eligibility: To be eligible to play in a tournament you must be a member in good standing, and have an established USGA handicap.
Invited guests may play two (2) times during regular league play.
Weekly competition prizes shall be awarded in flights. Ties will be broken according to USGA Rule 33-6/2. Players submitting incorrect cards, incomplete cards and unattested cards are disqualified for the event. Prizes will be in the form of Pro Shop credit. Prize monies for PODs and tournaments will be awarded in Papago Golf Pro Shop in form of gift certificates with expiration date of one year, payable two times per season. Joe Huber, Head Golf Professional, is providing two “Closest to the Pin” awards for each play day. On an additional par three, Vanessa Logston representing V&V Services, LLC is providing another “Closest to the Pin” award each week.

The Standing Rules and Procedures may be amended by a majority of the Executive Board, which constitutes a quorum.
